[April the 17th] |
It's already halfway into April. Hard to believe, really. The kids are already talking about summer, and I can see the terror in my fifth and seventh year students' eyes as the realisation that OWLs and NEWTs are only a couple months away sinks in. I think I'll have to start spending more time at the school to meet with students who have questions, which is always hard for me, since it means less time with Leo.
And speaking of Leo, he's looking forward to summer, too. We made a calendar to put up in his room, and every night we mark off another day to the two big things he's looking forward to: Daddy's done with work for the summer, and Leaving for Egypt. I decided a few months ago that it was about time he start travelling, and I thought he'd love seeing the pyramids and everything in Egypt, so we'll be leaving in early July and spending a couple weeks there, then stopping in Germany on the way back to spend a week visiting Brigitta's family there. I haven't travelled anywhere since before he was born, so I'm looking forward to it almost as much as he is, and it's been ages since he's seen his German relatives.

I figured it was only a matter of time before it happened.
Leo wants a pet. He says our owl doesn't count because he can't take it for a walk and have it sleep at the foot of his bed and eat his vegetables for him.

[February the 26th] |
Warded Private.
Merlin's beard, he'll be three tomorrow. Three ... it's hard to believe. It feels like just yesterday that he was so small in my arms. And now he's so big and energetic and always running around, so full of life.
Honestly, as glad, as lucky as I am to have Su, I- god, I miss Brigitta. The entire time we were waiting for Leo to arrive, decorating the nursery, buying diapers and clothes and toys, strollers, blankets, it never occurred to me- to us- that she wouldn't be around to see all the big events in his life. I definitely didn't expect to lose her the same day Leo was born.
It makes it hard, to celebrate his birthday. He's the most important thing in my life, but the 27th is coloured by such tragedy that- it's hard. We're bringing cupcakes to preschool for his class tomorrow, but- I guess one of these years, he's going to start wanting a birthday party. Of course, whatever he wants, I'll try to do for him.
His birthday's tomorrow. Merlin.
Yesterday's Arrows/Wasps match sounded entertaining over the wireless, at least.
To the parents out there: how do our kids grow up so fast?

Warded to Su.
I think Leo's got himself a girlfriend. He hasn't stopped talking about a girl in his class at preschool, Bailey, since I picked him up this afternoon. Am I allowed to be a little freaked out about this? He's not even three yet!
I think this Wiz-Viz thing sounds brilliant. I'll definitely be at the Leaky this weekend to check out the Catapults/Arrows match. Won't replace being there, sure, but it sounds like a great alternative to just hearing it.
